Confession: It’s been a while since I’ve posted.
But it’s okay because I’ve had a LOT going on! For one thing, I had a beautiful baby boy who is now seven months old. I was very sick while I was pregnant and then once he was born I took some time off to focus on only him. He is so much fun! Im the luckiest mom in the whole world.
Now I’m back writing with a vengance and I’ve decided I’d rather spend my writing time working on my books instead of blogging. SO, that’s why there’s a lack of posts. I may decided to blog regularly again at some point in the future, but for now I’m choosing to put my words into my books.
Update on my writing: June 1st I’m sending Project Evie out to my Beta readers. I’m so excited to get her story out. It’s a twisty ride that hopefully no one will be able to put down!
This weekend is the huge Storymakers Conference where I get a chance to reconnect with all my writer friends and go to the most amazing classes. I can’t wait! Last year at the Conference, I entered Project Evie into the first chapter contest and I took first place in my category. I’ve worked really hard to do her story justice and get it ready to go before the conference. I also entered the first chapter contest this year with another book, currently titled DRD4.
In order to accomplish my writing goals, I’ve been getting up at five in the morning every day! This is kind of a big deal for me because I’m not really a morning person unless it’s after seven. Haha. But with baby and other kiddos it’s been tricky to squeeze in my word count. I’ve been making so much progress this way that I kind of fell in love with the five o’clock hour, which I NEVER thought I’d say. But if you want it, you just have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get it done and I WANT IT!
I’m still a contributor on DeliciousReads, which is this amazing Book Club on steroids. We do a book bash for our book selection of the month the first Tuesday of every month. This year is our 10 year Anniversary so we are doing all sorts of fun things to celebrate.
This has nothing to do with writing but this last year I’ve started doing lots yoga and I LOVE the mind, body soul connection! I’m a wee bit obsessed. That’s all on that.
My friend Kelly, the creator of Delicious Reads, and my friend Alix of A Ruffled Life (who is also in my writing group Riveting Writers) joined forces recently to launch their book box company LitJoy Crate. It’s a perfect book box subscription for yourself or anyone else who loves to read. There’s four options: Age 0-2, 3-5, Combo of those ages or Young Adult. I just signed up for the combo so that my boys can have a fun book box delivered each month! I can’t wait to see what Kelly and Alix come up with.
You can find me on Twitter @brooke_hargett, Goodreads and Pinterest. After Facebook changed the way things function, I haven’t been posting on my Author Page as much but it’s still there for your perusal.
I can’t wait for tomorrow for the conference! Hope to see some old friends and make some new ones. Til next time!
