How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
My love for this book totally snuck up on me. Sara Zarr’s writing is absolutely brilliant! She takes two characters who are both at tough points in their lives, making them rather unlikable, and weaves them around in your heart until you’re so invested you don’t realize you’re crying. This book is just so REAL and raw, it captivated me. The character development is fantastic- Mandy is pregnant and going to give up her baby. Jill is grieving the loss of her father and is shocked when her mother decided to go through with an unconventional adoption of Mandy’s baby. Mandy comes to live with them while she’s pregnant and the story takes off. This is one of those books that will stay with you for a while after its over. It leaves its impression on your heart.
I went to a book signing for Sara and she’s the most friendly, witty woman! I want to read all her books now because her writing is so fantastic. This would be a great book club read because there are so many layers. I totally recommend this book!
