Wait. What? Summer is over? How did that happen??? This summer flew by faster than any summer I remember. One minute I was getting excited for shorts and flip flops and now suddenly it’s all about back to school extravaganzas! We’re almost into September- which means… the FALL is approaching. I have a slight obsession with all-things-FALL. Well, really… I’m a Fall-aholic. I’ll wait to introduce you to that a little later. This is just a little hint that I’m all about fall colors, nutmeggy and spicy treats, soups, decorations, scarves, the switch back to hot coffee from iced, hats, halloween, and a million fall time activities. Consider yourself warned.
I know the summer isn’t technically over… but it always feels that way when kids are back in school. This fall I need to pick a few Bucket List Items to work on. My GNO group will be having our yearly weekend retreat in September, so that will keep #50 going. I wanted to check off #71 this summer but I have been so busy I haven’t done it! Hmmm…
As far as summer TV shows go, I am LOVING the new TV Series: Graceland (on USA) and Ray Donovan (Showtime). Suits (USA) and Dexter (Showtime) were the two this summer I was really excited to continue. I have to admit I’m behind on ALL of them though! I need a summer vacation from my summer! I have to catch up before all the new seasons start. I LOVE movies and great shows! I take the stance that watching movies/shows/reading all help me with my writing. What other job can you go see a movie and classify it as work?? What have you been watching that you’ve loved?
I have to say I’ve had the best summer with my family. I don’t like to give too many details on such a public forum about my family because I hold them so close to my heart, but this summer has been all about family, and it’s been awesome. I feel so lucky to have my funny and amazing step-daughters and I’m so proud of them. (Two of them are celebrating a birthday today- Happy Birthday girls!! xoxo) And I could not be a happier mommy and wife. Feeling blessed and grateful.
Of all the books I recommended at the beginning of the summer, I am just finishing the last of my 10 summer reads, and I have to say I really enjoyed them! I would say pick up “Eleanor and Park” if you haven’t-it will make you remember your first love all over again. What did you read this summer that you loved??? Now I need to work on a fall reading lineup!
Short Term Goals: Slow down & relax. Attend one more writing conference this year.
Next summer I am hoping things will be a little slower paced. More hanging out in the backyard, eating fruit, using coconut smelling sun screen, long summer nights, lazy pool days, movie marathons and trips with family and friends.
This summer… well, I accomplished a lot. So that’s something.
Here’s to a great summer…
Fall- I’m all yours!
